Leadership
On Monday morning Sarah, mum, and I set off for town, we stopped at Strathmore to pick up Justin and then we went into Stratford to drop Sarah off at boarding school. When we got to Fielding we stopped and picked up Aunty sue and went up to the windmills. In Palmerston North we went to a museum that had a lot of interactive exhibits about sport, some tested how fast a ball that you through or kicked was going and another exhibit you raced on rowing machines. After that we went go-cart racing that was so much fun. On Tuesday Aunty Sue, Justin, and I went to the leadership conference while Mum went shopping with Aunty Catherine. It was New Zealand young leaders 10th Birthday so in between the speachs people were picked to go on stage and play party games. All of the inspirational speakers were really interesting, I had heaps of fun. By Hannah

My Weekend
After manual on Friday I went to Uncle Graham and Aunty Sue’s house. Aunty Sue, Revelin, and I dove into town and picked up my sister Sarah from high School. On Saturday all Sarah, Revelin, and I did was play on the wii, a wii is a game like a play station. On the wii we played tennis and I got a sore arm because you hold a hand sized remote in your hand and swing it like a real tennis racket and the bobble person on the Television hits it at the same time. Sarah and I stayed at Aunty Sue and Uncle Graham’s all weekend, we had loads of fun.

Water Safty

“Brrrrr” I’m trying to get warm after a chilly dip in the river. It’s a sunny day at river safety and we’re learning lots! So far we have looked at the different parts of the river, dangerous and nondangous. The safest place to swim in a river is an Eddy. Eddies are a slow flowing area where the water has veered off the e main current and circled back around into the current. We have been practicing floating feet first down the river. We have tried many different techniques for floating with objects such as a rugby ball, a bucket and a coke bottle. The ball worked the best. We are now heading to do some river crossing further up river. We’re all having so much fun at TOPEC for river safety.

My School
I love my school because we get a lot of one on one help with our cool teachers, Mrs Vincent, Miss Buchanan, Maggie and Ceri. I love to dance and express myself. I also love art and a lot of people say I’m good at it. I love to be able to play the recorder and ukulele. At school we learn Spanish and Mario we also had Mrs Hamlet come and she taught us some Turkish. We also love to go swimming in the summer.

I'm An Astronaut

Space exploration takes a lot of training. Training includes scuba diving and large padded tubes with no gravity; this type of training is used to help with the shock on the body of weight-less-ness. Another type of training is used to help with the pressure of lifting off into space. This training is only some of what it takes to be me an astronaut. 10 – 9- 8 – 7 – 6 – here goes. I take a deep breath 5- 4- 3- 2- 1- whoosh I am pushed back into my seat. I can’t move out of my seat, I can’t talk, the pressure is so strong it’s like an extremely heavy weight pushing down on me.
Once in space I was feeling very sick, my legs were weak, my face is very puffed up and I have awful pains in my back and neck. All this is called space sickness and as for the neck and back pains they are actually growing pains. While in space I will grow up to 5cm in height because the gravity is gone and my bones can stretch out.
The greatest thing about being in space is looking out of the rocket’s top windows and seeing the planet Earth. Being in space takes a lot of patience. Simple tasks become very difficult, like for example changing a flash light battery. Everything floats away when I’m using something else. That’s why everything is stuck down.
Moving around the space ship is not a problem, even the slightest push of a finger can send me floating across the space ship so I have to make sure I don’t move around too quickly. Space is very cool and now that my space journey is over I’m sad to leave but glad to go home.

New Zealand Bush

I like sitting in the airy New Zealand bush.
The woodpigeons flopping and woofling around the eastward leaning trees.
The little blue bush robins spying on my every move.
The crayfish scuttling under the rocks as the river washes past.
As I walk back to the hut I think of all the marvelous things in the New Zealand bush.

Tommy

This is my new horse Tommy. Tommy is an 8year old Appaloosa. He was ridden a lot before his owner went overseas for 3 years. Now we have him we have to retrain him. Tommy is a gelding but he was cut late and he still thinks he’s a stallion. Tommy can jump really high and he has good paces. Paces trotting, cantering and walking.

Targa Rally
On the 24th of October 2007 it was the Targa rally at Whanga. We had a roster that had pancake cooking, border patrol, whip cracking and raffle ticket selling. Border patrol was my favorite. I did so much whip cracking I got a blister. When Jorja and I did pancake cooking I kept getting plates of food and sharing it with Jorja. The Targa rally is a big race on the main road and the road was closed! Sarah and I got everybody’s autograph.
